Y2K party
A Y2K photoshoot: the 2000s party, in the flash of a digicam
A loft party in 2003: a disco ball, a silver tinsel curtain, an inflatable chair and drinks in plastic cups, all in the bright, slightly overexposed flash of a silver point-and-shoot. Glossy, loud and gloriously unfiltered.

The digicam flash
Before phones had good cameras, every party was photographed with a small silver digicam and its harsh little flash: bright faces, a hard shadow on the wall, the room behind falling into darkness. It's the look people now chase on purpose because it feels real, not filtered – and it's the light of this whole shoot, crisp and a little too bright, exactly like back then.

One night, every moment
A flash portrait in front of the tinsel, a peace sign, a laugh at the kitchen counter, a lounge in the inflatable chair, a message on a flip phone and the classic mirror shot with the camera's flash flaring beside you. The party is there as blurry dancers in the dark, but every photo is about you – the guest everyone wanted a picture with.

Better as a pair
The couple set is the night out you'd want photos of: a flash portrait together, cheers at the counter, a walk in through the hallway, squeezed onto the couch and dancing under the disco ball. Both of you in the same harsh, happy flash, so the photos look like they came off the same memory card – the night you'd both tell the story of.

The photos you'd find on an old memory card.
Everyone has a folder of 2000s party photos somewhere: too bright, a little blurry, completely happy. This shoot brings that feeling back, with you at the center of every frame instead of half cut off at the edge.
It's made for birthdays, throwback posts and a dating profile that shows you're fun to be around. The overexposed flash and saturated colors look intentional, the way the best snapshots of that decade did.
Your face stays yours under the flash: real skin, your hair, your glasses if you wear them. Styled in satin, metallics and velour, but never in sunglasses, so your eyes are in every shot.

Flash on. It's 2003.

Y2K Party photoshoot: questions
How is it different from the film photoshoot?
The film photoshoot is warm 35mm film at a summer backyard party. Y2K Party is the cool, crisp flash of a 2000s digital camera at a loft party – brighter, glossier and more extra.
Will other people be in my photos?
Only as blurry dancers far in the background. Every photo is about you – or the two of you in the couple set.
Can I wear my real 2000s outfit?
If you still have it, yes: upload a photo of it and wear it to the party. Or put one together from ours – the velour track jacket is waiting.
Can we do it as a couple?
Yes – choose Couple in step 1 and upload a photo of you two together, or of each of you, for 4 or 8 party photos.
