Neon noir
A neon photoshoot that looks like a still from a 90s film
A narrow street at night, red and green neon reflected in every puddle, steam over a noodle-bar counter. Moody, romantic and a little mysterious – the frame you'd pause the film on.

Shot like a 90s film
The great neon films of the 1990s lit their actors with whatever the street gave them: a red sign on one cheek, a green tube on the other, steam catching both. That's the light here, with fine 35mm grain, a soft glow around every lamp and deep, inky shadows. Nothing futuristic – a real-feeling street late at night, in color that only film has.

Scenes from the night
Under the glowing awning, laughing at the steamy noodle-bar counter, a look back from a tiled passage, a call from an old payphone and a close-up through the noodle bar's window. Each photo plays like a different shot from the same film, so the set tells a story instead of repeating one pose – from the wide street to the quietest close-up.

Coat, collar, leather
A long dark coat over black first, collar turned up against the night chill, then a worn leather jacket over a white tee for the late part of the night. Skin with the real texture neon light shows – moody without turning anyone into a cartoon. The signs carry no letters, so nothing in the frame looks fake. Dark clothes let the colored light do the work.

The frame you'd pause the film on.
Some photos look like they belong to a story. Neon on skin, steam catching the light and a face half in red, half in green do that on their own: a single frame that makes people ask where it was taken.
That's why it works as a profile photo with a bit of mystery, an album or poster mood for musicians and artists, or a print for anyone who grew up on 90s cinema. Grain and glow look even better printed large on matte paper.
And it's still you. The colored light changes the mood, never your features: your face, skin tone, glasses and beard stay exactly as they are, just lit like the lead in a late-night film.

Neon, night and a film still.

Neon Noir photoshoot: questions
Is it science fiction?
No – it's a real-feeling city street on a rainy night, shot like a 90s film still: neon, a noodle bar and film grain rather than flying cars.
Does colored light work on darker skin?
Yes. The red and green neon is a key and rim light, with a cool fill to keep the face clear, so every skin tone keeps its depth and detail.
Can I change the look?
Yes. Keep the long coat and change what's under it, pick another jacket, or upload photos of your own night-out clothes. Dark colors let the neon do its work.
Can we book it as a couple?
Neon Noir is for one person. For two of you in a night-out mood, the Y2K Party and the date night photoshoot have couple sets.
Ready for your Neon Noir photoshoot?
